I spoke via email with Barry Stiefel, the very knowledgeable President of Finder Products and was extremely impressed with the pet tag that his company developed in conjunction with American Humane. Two million lost pets ended up in shelters last year….but less than 15% were returned and simply because the owners couldn’t be reached. Being reunited with a lost pet isn’t about finding the pet…it’s about finding the owner. That’s where a pet ID tag comes in. According to American Humane (who co-developed petFINDER), it’s the first line of defense because it’s the quickest and easiest way to find or reach the owner (with a micro-chip as a backup). EVERY pet needs a pet tag and we have a new tag that’s the best we’ve ever seen. It’s called, petFINDER™ and is based on a patented toll-free calling system originally developed as a child safety solution for schools. It works like a toll-free calling card for your pet. Someone finding a lost pet anywhere in N. America, simply dials the toll-free number on the petFINDER™ tag. They immediately hear an owner’s message with information such as name, reward offer, health issues, etc. As soon as the message is over, the caller is automatically and privately connected to 3 contact numbers (previously entered during an easy set up). If no one is reached at the first number…..the caller is automatically connected to the other 2 numbers! petFINDER is the last ID tag you’ll ever need because an owner make unlimited changes whenever there are new numbers or temporary changes for pet travel. The numbers can be changed instantly…even after your pet is lost (Important in case you can’t be reached on the previously entered numbers). That feature actually helped return pets to owners after the Katrina Hurricane. Could there be anything as simple, providing this kind of peace of mind?
